Helen Huynh Psychologist Hawthorn – Melbourne

Clinical Psychologist

Helen Huynh

Hello! My name is Helen – a clinical psychologist experienced in supporting people navigate the tricky parts of life. I have a particular passion for working with trauma and relational trauma — the kind of hurt that happens within our closest connections. When the relationships that were meant to keep us safe instead left us wounded, the effects can run deep. Because relational wounds are formed in relationships, I believe they are also healed through connection that is safe, attuned, and unhurried. Walking with people through this work is some of the most meaningful work I do.

I work with several trauma-informed modalities, including parts-work schema therapy, dialectic behavioural therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy and eye-movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. My approach is a blend of evidence-based therapies with a compassionate, person-centred approach, where I am committed to creating a safe space for growth and self-discovery at a manageable pace.

I have had experience within both the private and public mental health space, working with people across the lifespan with a broad range of concerns. This includes supporting my clients to manage and adjust to stressful situations, engage in the grieving process, manage substance use-related concerns, and build self-confidence and understanding. I have also worked with a broad range of mental health diagnoses, including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive and related disorders, trauma and stressor-related disorders, personality disorders, neurodevelopmental disorders, and schizophrenia spectrum disorders.

I hope that I may be able to support you on your journey, no matter what it looks like.
